Cost
Each mural job is unique and as such it can be difficult to estimate what the final cost will be. For example, a simple mural that is quite large might take the same amount of time as a more complex one that is a quarter of the size. The cost of the mural is dependant upon the length of time it will take to complete it. If there is any doubt as to how long a mural might take to paint, we always give our clients a range, so there are no surprises should the project take longer than expected. An 8'x10' mural can range anywhere from 5 days to 15 days, depending upon the complexity. We guarantee that the cost will never exceed the range we contract for.
Basic breakdown of labor is $45 per hour for the lead artist. Each contract is estimated in advance of the project and then the cost is determined by the number of hours it will take to complete the work. More elaborate contracts may require additional staff. In addition the client will be invoiced for whatever materials that are specific to the job, such as paint, glazes, primer, tape, etc. Sun & Moon Murals supplies all the basic mural tools, such as brushes and drop cloths. In the rare cases where scaffolding is required, the client will be invoiced for the rental cost.
While Sun & Moon Murals in currently located in the Seattle area we do work throughout the state of Washington and nationally. Projects in other states or of a considerable commute may incur additional costs for lodgings or transportation. Any additional expenses will be discussed and agreed upon by both parties before the acceptance of the contract.
